Strategic environmental assessment

We provide strategic environmental assessments (SEAs) of plans and programmes in accordance with the SEA Directive. We also provide sustainability appraisals (SAs – they incorporate SEAs) for Local Development Framework Development Plans.

SEAs are now required for all plans and programmes subject to adoption by competent authorities. SA and SEA ensure that international, European and national sustainable development objectives are integrated into plans and programmes.

Our service ensures compliance with European and national sustainable development legislation.

We can form joint planning teams involving both Mouchel and client sustainability assessment and planning teams. This is important, as it ensures that the requirements of the SEA Directive are met and guidance from the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) is followed.

We provide in-house specialists familiar with all issues identified in the SEA Directive and Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) guidance. We can also provide parallel Inequality Impact Assessments, Appropriate Assessments, Health Risk Assessments and Strategic Flood Risk Assessments.
