Part IIa Environmental protection act

Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 places a duty on local authorities to identify contaminated land in their areas and ensure it is remediated. Mouchel offers a comprehensive range of expertise to undertake Part IIA assessments.

We provide considerable experience of Part IIA procedures gained through our involvement in the investigation and remediation of one of the first housing sites in the UK to be dealt with under this legislation.

Recent experience gained in remediating occupied Part IIa sites can be imparted to minimise impact on councils and residents. We are also aware of the process required to ensure the project receives appropriate funding from DEFRA.

By providing the complementary skills available from both an environmental and housing team, Mouchel is in a unique position to address the sensitivities of tenants/ owner occupiers, as well as the physical constraints of investigation and remediation of occupied sites.

We provide a one-stop shop for Part IIa issues. We also have in-house human health and hydrogeological expertise. We’re also experienced at monitoring vapours in occupied properties and developing procedures for dealing with them.
