Human health risk assessment

We assess and manage the risks to human health from potentially contaminated land. This is a key aspect of the redevelopment and regeneration of brownfield sites and other potentially contaminated land, to identify any liabilities to either the public or workers.

Using problem conceptualisation (a conceptual site model, highlighting the source-pathway-receptor scenarios) the risk assessment can be used to design the site investigation.

We can undertake both Generic Risk Assessment (GAC), and Detailed Risk Assessment (DQRA) including food chain uptake. We also provide regulator liaison and remediation design, implementation and validation.

We liaise with regulators, to aid communication and speed up the decision-making process.

Our risk assessors are familiar with the main risk assessment tools and procedures such as the Environment Agency’s CLR documents and procedures, CLEAUK software, the RBCA Tool kit and RISC4.

Our team includes staff that worked on the review of CLR documents, and sensitivity analysis of the CLEA model for the Environment Agency.
