Accident data

Provision of accident statistics, based on accident forms and GIS data to key stakeholders such as DFT, Highways Agency, and local Councils, road safety professional, Council members, members of the public and students.

Mouchel maintains Personal Injury Accident databases, in the main for Local Authority clients. This is achieved though the input of accident forms, geographical location using GIS and validation of personal injuries, based on the ‘Stats 19’ criteria.

We also supply accident statistics to key stakeholders, the Department for Transport (DFT) and members of the public. We supply a variety of reports, from simple text-based reports to large scale plots and ad-hoc reports by specific mode of transport.

We validate and input Road Traffic Accident Forms (T28) from the local police and supply accident data for use by road safety engineers and campaigners to better understand accident trends and clusters.

The data is used by the client to propose new highway schemes and road safety innovations.

We have direct communication with the reporting police officer for accurate data input. We employ skilled SQL programmers to integrate data for ad-hoc reports requested by key stakeholders.

A partnership approach is often adopted, for example, in Essex the team is a three-way partnership between Essex County Council, Essex Police and Mouchel. We provide a live link to the Buchanan Accident System so that any of the partners can interrogate the data.

Use of the Buchanan's AccsMap system with an Oracle database allows instant analysis of large data sets.
