Overview
A brand new special school, the Granta Special School provides the learning environment for 165 pupils with special educational needs.
Incorporating the latest thinking in designing schools for special educational needs, the building is set around an internal courtyard. This uses natural daylight to the greatest effect, creating an open and light atmosphere. In addition, the height and bulk of the building’s elevations are kept to a minimum.
The internal layout caters to the different age groups of the school, allowing the pupils to grow and progress around the site as they mature, using different aspects of the building.
