Highways and Local Roads
Mouchel is one of the UK’s largest providers of consulting and business services in the highways sector.
We are responsible for maintenance and operations on a substantial portion of England’s motorway and trunk road network.
We’re behind some of the most innovative technologies to combat congestion on our arterial road network – including hard-shoulder running and variable motorway speed-limits – and we are working shoulder-to-shoulder with traffic systems providers to create the solutions that will keep traffic moving well into the century.
Our partnership with Enterprise (the enterprisemouchel joint venture) leads the way in network operations and contracting; further information can be found on the enterprisemouchel website, www.enterprisemouchel.com.
Mouchel’s designers and project managers are involved in developing new and improved highways to meet society’s changing travel needs. We have a well-earned reputation for creating solutions that accommodate the wider social and environmental needs of road-building in today’s world.
We work with local and regional highway authorities throughout the UK and Ireland to provide the planning, design, operations and maintenance services needed to get the most out of our road infrastructure.
Our expertise in street management, urban design, transportation planning and street lighting sets us apart – as do our long-standing relationships with Transport for London and the many London and Metropolitan Boroughs, County Councils and unitary councils up and down the country.
Technological solutions have an increasing role to play in managing our local road networks. Our acquisition, in 2006, of Traffic Support Limited gave us the software systems capabilities needed to provide parking enforcement and congestion charging solutions for our towns and cities.
Our joint venture with Peek Traffic Limited now allows us to provide integrated planning, design and installation of highway information management and communications technology.
