Linda Doyle, Head of Joint Initiatives Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT)

Linda was originally a physics teacher in secondary schools and FE before leading on curriculum development in an FE college. She was also an Ofsted Section 10 secondary science inspector. During that period, she was lecturing at Open University Summer Schools and had an editing role in publishing work for Macmillan connected with international science text books. She then became National Manager for CREST Awards which is a national awards programme involving collaboration between schools and industry or research establishments on scientific and engineering projects.
For more than nine years now, Linda has worked for the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT). She has led the DCSF funded work connected with supporting schools that wish to acquire and retain specialist status and has been involved with SSAT’s role with new academies. For the last three years, she has led the DCSF contracted support for schools changing to trust or foundation status.
