Mouchel’s water project team has renowned expertise in two main areas: asset management, and engineering and technology. We work for every major water company through-out England and Scotland.
Asset management Asset management plans are a vital component of a water company's business plan submission to OFWAT, the industry regulator. Mouchel develops risk-based asset management plans for water companies. We provide probability and consequence modelling of individual assets. We also use valuation techniques to define an affordable programme of asset investment, maintenance and operational costs. Our team has developed a series of tools and processes to define risks at the asset level (pipe or treatment works equipment), and to define an affordable programme of work. We are developing processes that can be transferred to the client on completion. Our approach complies with the UK Water Industry Research's (UKWIR's) common framework for capital maintenance planning. We work closely with UKWIR and have been recently commissioned to carry out research reports to assist them with their market analysis. Engineering and technology Our team provides a range of process engineering services for water and wastewater treatment. A good process design can ensure compliance whilst at the same time minimising operating costs. Our extensive and experienced team can also often suggest options which involve less capital investment than previously envisaged.
Our services include: assessing the performance of existing assets; advising on improvement to the existing asset performance; design of new treatment plant using established technologies; process selection from an owners-approved short list; process flow diagrams; sizing of process units; and detailed design and preparation of performance specifications. We have an established and growing track record in providing industrial wastewater treatment services and we have particular expertise in designing leachate treatment plants. We are also heavily involved with the Technology Approval Group (TAG), a consortium which involves industry specialists, venture capitalists and end-user clients. |
