Keeping schools in good order
Academy or school buildings and grounds require constant attention to ensure that they remain places which encourage learning, inspire excellence and instil parent confidence.
Mouchel are able to manage a budget for the academy or school or simply recommend and deliver services in accordance with instructions. Our lifecycle and asset planning processes, linked to the expertise of our technical staff allow us to maximise the cost-effectiveness of the limited funds available to maintain buildings, and to minimise energy costs and the carbon footprint.
Routine building maintenance
Mouchel are able to manage all aspects of buildings maintenance. Any works will either be carried out by school keepers, by directly employed building trades teams or by contractors procured by Mouchel in conjunction with and on behalf of the academy or school.
Statutory servicing
Mouchel will manage all necessary statutory and preventative maintenance servicing for an academy or school. Where appropriate, any works will be undertaken by a school keeper who has been trained and qualified to do so, but alternatively works will be undertaken by a contractor procured by Mouchel in conjunction with the academy or school. Planned and responsive decorations
A termly, annual and five year programme of decoration can be established by Mouchel. This will ensure that the buildings are maintained both for the aesthetic requirement and to protect the building elements from deterioration.
Our unique tool for lifecycle cost planning maximises the effectiveness of the limited budgets available to maintain buildings, minimises energy costs and carbon footprint, and can be used to make choices between refurbishment solutions judged by the positive impact on teaching and learning as well as on lifecycle and energy costs.
Irrespective of routine decorations, responsive decoration is frequently required due to vandalism, unusual use of an area or accidental damage. Mouchel recognises the importance of addressing these issues as quickly as possible to prevent further deterioration or to discourage further vandalism.
Works will be undertaken usually through a contractor procured by Mouchel, or alternatively through using the school keepers.
Grounds maintenance
As with the buildings, the academy or school grounds have a significant impact on impressions about the academy's or school's performance. Strategic planting and landscaping can also support security and help to address anti-social behaviours.
Mouchel will manage a grounds maintenance contract which delivers the requirements of the academy or school. Works will be undertaken where possible at times which do not disturb learning.
Cleaning
Mouchel is able to propose innovative options to provide efficient and cost effective cleaning options, recognising that different areas of the site require different cleaning regimes, as well as the need to keep areas available for use during the school day.
