Mouchel is at the forefront of keeping our roads and motorways safe and reliable. Indeed, Highways is one of the key divisions within the company, employing over 3,500 of our people and generating nearly half our annual turnover.
Our portfolio is wide ranging. We manage, maintain and improve thousands of kilometres of motorways and trunk roads throughout the UK and Ireland. We also look after much of the UK's local road network and are behind a number of major initiatives to improve the reliability of people’s journeys.
Our teams have been responsible for some of the most important developments in the highways sector. These range from the planning and design of major capital projects to the maintenance and management of congested road networks.
For example, we're widening the M1 and have recently overseen a successful scheme to ease congestion on the M42 using an innovative technique known as Active Traffic Management (ATM).
We look after the local road network, too. Local authorities, public agencies and private developers all make use of our expertise in this area - making us the number one provider in this market. Whether our client wants to pedestrianise a town centre, introduce a bus lane, strengthen a bridge or improve their parking services they know they can rely on Mouchel to oversee all stages of a project.
